Yesterday started badly for me. I had server issues, I lost page rank on a keyword I was shooting for, I had a Clickbank refund (I hate them), several advertising campaigns ere running below expectations and I was generally out of sorts.
My mood was turned around by three great pieces of correspondence from three icons of the Internet Marketing Industry. Each of them was giving selfless advice and they all are worth passing on.
The first came from Frank Kern. I instinctively like Frank, which is something I can’t say about a lot of gurus. His writing is natural and conversational and always enjoyable.
His post about The Two Magic Powers helped put my day in perspective and make me get back on the horse so to speak. Frank if you ever happen upon this page you did me a great favour thanks and I sincerely promise never to feel sorry for myself again.
I was just beginning to get myself re-focussed when I took the time to read an email from Perry Marshall. Now, Perry is my kind of guy. He openly admits to failing not once but dozens of times. His email (also a blog posting ) about square pegs, round holes, trying everything and being fired by his boss is a classic inspirational piece of writing. I particularly like Perry’s assertion that he has no regrets and that the hard years were the years that taught him the most valuable lessons – “he was building muscles.”
So the day was looking much better when I noticed a tag line on an email from Brian Johnson, I’ve never noticed it before and I think its priceless it just said
“People DO NOT fail at internet marketing,
they simply GIVE UP before the magic happens.”
So what does all this mean?
It means that you can’t give up, you have to get back in the ring and take your licks, while building your marketing muscles. Success will come if you believe in and remain true to yourself.
That’s the golden rule of Internet Marketing

I have that same email from Brian Johnson. He has some great niche marketing info.
Sometimes I wonder why I have not given up earlier. I have been at marketing
for years with little success. I have the knowledge, but need to work on the mindset.
Thanks for this post, Mark.
I needed that urgently today to keep going.
